Speedpost: WoW Graphics Still Bad
Last few rolling restarts on WoW have not fixed my PC’s graphics problems. I think I will try the graphics card fan trick next.
In the meantime, I’ve been leveling a Draenei Shaman on a PvP server. I got to level 20 yesterday with her. Ghost Wolf FTW! Also, I received my first gankage on Monday! A random Blood Elf hunter popped me — or more accurately, her wolf popped me — in the Wetlands as I was trotting through to pick up flight paths. She was ranked “??” to me so I didn’t even fight, just kept running. Then I died. At least my PvP virginity is out of the way now.
Has anyone tried the Kindle yet? What say you?
Still Twittering (tweeting?). You?

I hope the graphics card fan trick works for you - after reading McMom’s replacing of just about every component in her machine, and no fix for the issue - I’m right back to pointing my finger at Blizzard. All of a ’sudden’ after a patch, the forums go wild with ppl having the same graphics card symptoms??? All of a sudden all these cards ‘overheating’, which I assume is caused by having to process that much more info that much faster?? Blizz did something.
Keep us updated on your progress. I’m still thinking of coming back, but with my older system, it may not be possible or worth it anymore… Thanks.

Tweeting’s the right phrase =).
Good luck with that card! Would suck to blog about WoW but not able to play it =(.
I have experienced exactly the same problems. Tweaking with other drivers sometimes seemed to help but it always returned. Even tried installing windows again, but even then the problem returned after a while.
At the time I had a 7900 videocard from xfx. When I replaced it with a 8800 gts, the problem was gone, my wife did get the 7900 card and now she had the same problem wich only disappeared after replacing that card also with an 8800 gt.
I think there is a problem with the 7000 series of nvidia in combination with wow. Replacing that with another worked for me

Gamedame:
Tried the link to your Twitter feed and got an Error 404. Snap does the same thing. Might want to check the URL..

my nvidia gts8800 w/680 meg of ram does the same thing sometimes, or the game crashes.. with driver updates, the game hardly crashes any longer but if I play Wow for 2 hours straight the machine (brand new) will shut down. I now keep the side of my computer open, even though I have 3 fans internal. Also nothing else has this problem, just WoW.
I’ve also noticed I have the most problems if i’m alt-tab’n from the game to windows often.
The card is just too powerful for WOW. Go swap it out for something older/less powerful and you’ll be fine.
Good luck with the video card - I hope it works out.
@Steven Richardson: I think I fixed the Twitter links in both posts. If you still have an issue, let me know.
@Link: I was thinking of hiring Gilligan to come pedal the power for me. I think that’s old skool enough for Blizzard. Maybe?
