What is your Gamer Psychology?
I have no idea how I found this site. Sometimes I go down rabbit holes and end up someplace cool. Which is the main reason I continue to go down those rabbit holes.
In any event, I stumbled upon the GamerCafe’s Bartle Test of Gamer Psychology. I took the test. It’s less than 30 questions long and it’s a series of questions with binary answers. You can only choose between two answers and you must pick one. Sometimes you want to choose both or neither, but you have to pick only one.
My psychological profile came out to be an EKAS, which means that I like to “see the world, meet interesting people… and kill them,” as the description to the right explains. (Click to see the full size version.) I’m not sure how I would’ve characterized myself before the test, but I think this is a pretty accurate description of what I like about many games. I’m speaking mostly of action, adventure, or RPG games, of course.
I’m not sure how the Bartle test would help with more casual games like Bejeweled or Zuma. Or board/card games, for that matter. So it’s not a definitive description by any means, but I was impressed with how well it captured my WoW personality.
You also get a bit of extra fun after you complete the test. You can pick your favorite games and learn a piece of trivia about the gamer type breakdown on those games.
So go do it and come back to post your psychological profile for the world to see!

Okay, so it looks like I am an ASEK.
ASEK players like to pit themselves against the grand-challenges of a virtual world. They see grouping and guilds/clans not only as an enjoyable aspect of the social environment, but also as a way to achieve goals that cannot be achieved as an individual.
Breakdown: Achiever 60.00%, Explorer 60.00%, Killer 20.00%, Socializer 60.00%
According to the test, WoW is not even in the top 10 of games played by ASEKs. They say I should be playing Fear. Hmmmm…… Could I be in the wrong game? Oh, no!!
KEAS
KEAS players are often individuals who like to feel immersed in a virtual worlds and see themselves as a great villain or crusader within that world. They seek out challenges against other players, but they are going to find all the areas of that world. They’ll often know about the best hiding places and ambush points.
A 33.3% E 60% K 73.33% S 33.33%
I was almost the same as you! By the way I finally found my way over here sorry for the delay, Ill add your site to my RSS feeds on the old Wife Agro page as well. Sure you dont want to stop by GAX? Thanks for reading all this time.
EASK players often live by the phrase ‘The journey is often more enjoyable than the destination.’ They are motivated by meeting the challenges of the world, but they are usually in no rush–because seeing the creatures and places of the world is even more fun.
Breakdown: Achiever 53.33%, Explorer 86.67%, Killer 20.00%, Socializer 53.33%
that’s surprisingly accurate for me! lol
I did this test a few months back, and was an EASK. It’s a handy little touchstone to refer to when playing a game that sucks - I can say Why do I hate this so much? Oh yeah, I’m not a Killer, I’m an Explorer Achiever!!
I do wonder if I’d taken the test before I spent 2 years in WoW what the results would have been. I’m going to bet SEAK - but after two years there, the S part just got beaten out of me.
AKSE
AKSE players like to be the best-of-the-best at everything the game has to offer. They like to be high on the ladders of whatever metrics the game uses, including PVP. They like the best gear, the most power, and they love being the ‘first’ at something. Their prowess in PVP is generally supported by a large degree of understanding and posession of the best equipment and skills.
Breakdown: Achiever 66.67%, Explorer 33.33%, Killer 53.33%, Socializer 46.67%

pretty much accurate, since i use warrior for arena/pvp and druid for pve and try to get the best equipment with both on 2 different ways.
