I am numb right now. Calvin’s biopsy came back as a cancerous growth. We were referred to a veterinary oncologist.

So sorry hon

I am a lurker on your site and always enjoy your writings. I also have a 20 year old kitty who i love more than anything. I wanted to respond and say how sorry I am to read this. I am thinking of you and kitty.
Natalie:
My wife and I nursed a cat through kidney cancer back in 94-95 for over six months of chemo. We also had to hydrate him through a subcutaneous IV and pill him with chemo and antinausea drugs. I think he understood that what we were doing to him was to make him feel better. He responded amazingly well, but ultimately succumbed when it hid behind the blood-brain barrier and became brain cancer. Since then, I am sure chemo protocols have improved quite a bit. Don’t give up hope; Calvin may still make it through this! Keep us posted.

Thanks for such sweet comments, you guys. The good news is that I think this is containable. We’ll find out more on 5/29 when we see the oncologist, but from what I’ve read cats have a much easier time with this than dogs. Also, my vet got all of the tumor out and the prognosis in that case seems to be excellent. He seems like a happy boy so I’m staying positive. I’ll keep you posted.
WHAT???? Oh my gosh Nat! I’m so sorry for Calvin and you guys. I hope he’ll be okay. It makes me sad when pets get sick and need surgery.
Thanks for stopping by my little ole blog. I was always thinking that if you could figure out how to wear a dress, you would be THAT much smarter! LOL!
ooh I’m sorry. Big hug for the little guy and for you.
Our cat had a cancerous growth last year. It was cut out in an operation, but this year it came back again.
The vet says there is no point trying to cut it out again, but at the same time, it won’t spread to the rest of her body.
As for the cat herself, she is happy enough. I don’t think it gives her any pain.
here’s hoping.
